The Basics of the Squeeze Technique:

What is the Squeeze Technique? The Squeeze Technique is a popular technique for treating premature ejaculation invented by Dr. James Semans and popularized by legendary sex researchers Masters & Johnson. Like many similar methods, the Squeeze Technique involves maintaining a watchful eye on your level of arousal in order to delay orgasm. However, there are several precise steps you need to follow in order to properly execute this technique:

  • Start with your partner lying with their back up against the headboard (or wall) with their legs apart.
  • Get on your back as well and scoot your pelvis up next to theirs. It should look like a scissoring position, except both of you are flat on your back, and your legs are intertwined in whatever way feels most comfortable.
  • Come up with an effective signal so that your partner knows when to stop stimulating you, and then allow them to stroke your penis.
  • Pay close attention to your level of arousal; you must signal your partner right before climax. Waiting too long is just going to get messy, and signaling them too soon will prove ineffective. The idea is to go as long as possible without needing to signal your partner.
  • Once your partner gets the signal, they must execute the squeeze (hence the name, “Squeeze Technique”). This involves placing their thumb on the underside of your penis and their index and middle fingers on top. Their thumb should be on the frenulum while the index and middle fingers are on either side of the rim. With fingers in place, have them squeeze for 5 seconds, then wait 15-30 seconds before resuming stimulation.
  • Repeat the steps of the Squeeze Technique 4-5 cycles per sexual encounter. Try to go longer each cycle without having to signal.

Why should I bother with the Squeeze Technique?

Unlike hearsay from your best friend or popular strategies spread around the locker room, the Squeeze Technique is backed up with medical credibility. Although a little outdated, the technique’s methodical approach to training is much more effective than hoping you can make yourself last longer during sex through willpower alone.

Some Tips to Enhance your Squeeze Technique Training

Remember that the goal of the Squeeze Technique is to keep track of your level of arousal and increase the amount of time you can last in between signals. Really focus on how pleasurable everything feels while utilizing the Squeeze Technique, while at the same time focusing on controlling your climax. Only signal when absolutely necessary (but before crossing that orgasmic threshold). Start the Squeeze Technique process with a dry stroking of your penis, and after you’ve mastered that, gradually add in more pleasurable elements. Lubrication can come next, followed by fellatio and eventually regular intercourse.  With enough training, you can eventually abandon the Squeeze Technique altogether and enjoy longer-lasting sex without it!

Most men find that they get they’re able to last their longest when they combine an effective technique like the Squeeze Technique with a proven anti-PE herbal supplement or topical ointment. Unsure about which of these products to use? Check out our product review section for more information.
